Marriage Conference – April 23rd, 2022
The Catholic Church of the Assumption, Falomo, conceived the idea of a marriage conference which was entrusted to the Catholic Men’s Guild and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers of the Church of the Assumption, Falomo by the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Francis Ike.
The Marriage Conference Theme is: ‘BUILDING MARRIAGES AND MENDING FENCES IN MARRIAGE: Challenges, societal impact & mitigation in uncertain times’
The goal of the conference is to identify/discuss and provide solutions to the threats to marriages in Nigeria, sensitize the stakeholders and participants on the threats and generate ideas for developing an action plan to address these threats.
Various speakers were contacted to be speakers and discussants to specific aspects of this all-important subject.
The keynote Speaker was be Engr. Charles Osezua. The Chairman for the event was Senator Mike Ajegbo and the Moderator was Barrister Matthew Egbadon.
There were other proposed subtopics:
❖ Spirituality & Communication, a tool for a sustainable marriage;
❖ Marriage as a vocation;
❖ Compromised values and virtues before marriage;
❖ Parental pressure and materialism in marriage;
❖ The Church & the support Institution;
❖ Finances vs Wealth and Husbands & leadership versus wives’ submissive spirit;
These subtopics were handled by a distinguished panel of discussants, amongst whom are Mrs. Gloria Osazuwa; Msgr. Paschal Nwaezeapu (Parish Priest of Divine Mercy); Mr. & Mrs. IK Nnadozie and Barr. Mrs. Angela Ekwem.
The event was both physical and also transmitted via zoom to enable us reach a global audience for maximum effect. In line with COVID-19 Protocols, we had an audience of about 120 persons in the hall while about 230 participated via zoom.
